DFW Sunburn

This is not an official TASR event but rather one hosted by the TASR community

Introducing DFW Sunburn: The First Texas Sand Spikeball Tournament!

It’s been a long time coming. The DFW hub is finally hosting a sand tournament. We are hoping this is the first of many so let’s make Sunburn 2021 a blast!

What Division Is Right For You?

Intermediate: You have played a tournament or two, but aren’t ready for fast serves and next level hits.

- SRA Premier level players may not play intermediate, and 2 TASR Gold players may not play intermediate together.

Advanced: You are ready to feel the heat of competition a little more but haven’t qualified for Gold yet.

- 2 TASR Gold players or 2 SRA Premier level players may not play advanced.

- No Hit Zone will not be played in advanced.

Super Saiyan: all Gold and Premier level players are encouraged to play in the Super Saiyan division. However any team may sign up if you are feeling bold. May Texas players have little experience playing competitive high-level sand Roundnet for obvious reasons, so this will be a unique experience.

- No Hit Zone rules will be used at this division. You may be wondering: “NHZ in the sand”?? Don’t worry, we have our top scientists working on a solution.

Free Agent: If you need a partner, sign up for this division!

INSTRUCTIONS:
1: Make your team name the division(s) you would like to play in.
2: Include contact info so other free agents/coordinators know how to reach you and can help pair you with a partner.
3: Once you have found a partner, email lorozco40@gmail.com to request to be removed from this division and register your official team in the division you'll be competing in.

Tournament Details

The facility we are using is picky about outside food or drink. Please DO NOT BRING ANY FOOD OR DRINKS including water. This is both the most annoying and most important detail of this tourney. We will be opening up a tab at the bar for bottled waters so our tourney participants may grab 1 bottle on us. Every bottle after that must be purchased. We KNOW this is annoying and have petitioned extensively to allow outside drink. But these are the rules and they must be followed if we are to have a good relationship with this facility. Come prepared with at least 6 dollars in water money. Each bottle is 2 dollars. Save at least 1 empty bottle as there may be a method to fill up for free.

Food may also be purchased at the bar.

The tournament schedule will start out with pool play to determine seeds for bracket play. The schedule will look something like this below:

4:00-4:30: Check-in
4:45: Announcements
5:00-6:30: Pool Play
6:30-7:00: Break
7:00-10:00 Bracket Play

We have the facility from 5:00PM-10:00PM.
Yes. PM. This is an evening tournament. Sand gets very hot in July during the day.

(If semis/finals cannot be completed by 10:00pm for any division they will be played the next day at Richland Park)

Location:
The Strand
200 Continental Dr
Lewisville TX 75067

The facility is a large Sand Volleyball court with 8 full courts. This means 16 games, 32 teams, 64 people can play at once (one game per each side of a court). This should be enough room, however If we have an enormous amount of people sign up we may have to take turns on each court.

Prizes

The first place teams of advanced and Super Saiyan will each receive a custom Surf Spikeball Pro net. Keep an eye out on the @dfwspikeball Instagram to see what these will look like. But I can guarantee they will be sick!

Intermediate will get something too. Maybe a hug? Jk. We will figure something out.

Spikeball and Roundnet… What’s the Difference?

Roundnet is the sport popularized by Spikeball inc. You may have heard of it referred to as Spikeball, but that is merely the brand who makes the product on which roundnet is played! Check out their information at Spikeball.com!
